Episode 3
Original Air Date: January 17, 2007 The Great Blonde-Brunette Schism gets worse as Matt and Andrea return from the elimination room to face the other remaining beauties and geeks. Andrea, the only surviving Brunette, does not want to face the Airhead Brigade. The blondes are not crazy about seeing her either. Everyone, including the blondes, congratulate Matt. But no one says anything to Andrea. She remarks how she misses Sheree. House hoochie Cecille says that she's glad that Sheree is gone. This season is not turning out like the first two, which didn't have this ugliness. Sure, there was conflict, but no malice. I think it has to do with the quality of women they've chosen this time around. It would be hard to find a skankier bunch without cruising the red light district. Host Mike Richards gathers the group downstairs the next day to inform them that it's that time again - time for the Geek Makeover! Whoo! The girls are far more excited about this than the guys. Their enthusiasm probably stems from childhood when they would dress up their Barbies. Now they have living people to play with. The girls won't be in complete control, however. Each beauty will have one hour to advise her geek on what his new wardrobe should look like. Afterwhich, the geeks will have 30 minutes to go clothes shopping by themselves. Mike tells the beauties that they will need to study materials on business and marketing for their challenge this time around. Once again, all the girls moan and roll their eyes. Have they never seen the show before? Did they not realize there would be required reading? Meanwhile, the geeks have some odd ideas about what their new images should be. Niels wants to get white, alligator-skin shoes with flames on the side. Jennylee overrules him on the flames. Nate tells us he likes the way he looks and takes pride in not conforming to what's cool. Judging from his usual attire, he evidently also doesn't conform to what can be comfortably looked at by the human eye. Still, his comfort with his own sense of style is something to be admired, even if that style does cause anyone unfortunate enough to look at it to suddenly develop a headache. But Nate does consult with Cecille, "I'm going to ask you something. Feel free to say 'no'." "OK" "A mullet." "No." At the upscale clothing store, Niels is going wild. He starts shopping for T-shirts and doesn't bother to go to the fitting room to try them on. He whips his shirt off and starts trying on the new shirts right in the middle of the store. He finally ends up with a really loud ensemble which includes a whacky T-shirt with a cartoon fish on it, a bright yellow hoodie, and a brown leather jacket with a prominent design down the front. The girl who works at the store and has been helping him tells him it's "too much". He says he's going to go for it anyway. Poor Mario isn't having quite so much fun. He's too chubby for most of the clothes in the store. He tells us he will not be wearing his new clothes "with confidence". Back at the mansion, the girls are studying for their challenge. Jennylee confesses to the other blondes that she has a little crush on Nate. It's time for the reveal. The guys have all been to the air salon to get their new 'dos and are dressed in their new duds. Niels is the first to show himself to the girls. With his whole leather ensemble and new haircut, he looks like Niels From the Block. The girls love it, calling it "very Rock n' Roll". Scooter is next. He's dressed in a blue polo shirt over white pants. He's also given up his glasses and beard. He actually looks somewhat normal. The girls go wild. Megan says they're "pushing the beds back together." Drew comes in with a dark sports coat over a light blue/white button-down shirt and jeans. He's also de-spectacled. He looks pretty sharp as well. Mario, who is still bummed about the trouble he had finding clothes to fit, nervously mopes into the room wearing a brown blazer over a green T-shirt tucked into jeans. He's de-spectacled, de-hatted, and has a shiny new haircut. The girls all tell him he looks great, which makes him feel a lot better. Matt, on the other hand, bursts into the room with confindence. He's wearing a dark jacket over a long T-shirt and jeans. Nadia tells him all the ladies will be wanting him. Nate comes in last. Jennylee is all a flutter in anticipation. Always the clown, Nate pokes his legs through the curtain first as a tease, then brings the rest of himself in. Holy crap. He's gone through the most dramatic transformation. He's wearing a powder blue sports coat over a polo shirt with a print on the front and jeans. But the most major part of his transformation is his hair and grooming. He's got a short haircut and has shaved his beard, except for a little bit of carpet underneath his bottom lip. He almost kinda looks like Johnny Knoxville. Jennylee gushes to the camera, "When he started talking, I was all twinkle-eyed. What's great about Nate is his personality. He's so sweet. You can't resist it." After the reveals, Mike informs the gang that the beauties' next challenge will be to auction off their geeks at a date auction. Fear sets over the nerd herd. Upstairs, Scooter and Megan are writing Scooter's bio for the date auction. "I have a high IQ." "No, girls don't like that." "I know about fine foods and wine." Megan (writing), "You have a hot body. You're a great kisser." "I scuba dive." "You like yachting." "I don't like yachting." Later, Nate asks Drew to borrow some deodorant, as he has none. Nate prefers to go, in his own words, "au naturale". But part of his makeover is that he must wear deodorant. Drew lends him his stick and it appears he has to show Nate how to apply it. "AHHHHH!" Nate squeals, "It's slimy. You do this every morning?!" He should have found someone with spray instead. It's time for the date auction and all the guys try really hard to strut their stuff. Mario walks out and tries to make nice with the crowd. Unfortunately, he doesn't have his glasses on so he can't see anyone. He makes googly eyes and does the pointing gesture out to someone in the crowd. But unbeknownst to him, he's pointing at Mike Richards. Mario goes for $12. Drew, Niels, and Nate do the best of the evening. Drew went for $21. Nate is told by Cecille to drop and give her twenty. He responds by humping the stage. The women in the crowd like him and the high bid is $29. Niels is last and succeeds in impressing the ladies when he lifts up his shirt. It looks like the high bid for him is going to be $29 as well, but one woman bids $32 as Mike is calling out "Going once, going twice..." Niels and Jennylee are the winners of this challenge and get to choose the two teams who will go into the elimination room. Niels tells us how and he Jennylee won by teamwork. "I couldn't have done it without her," he says, "and she couldn't do it without me... um, yeah." The dates go well for most of the guys. Drew is asked by his date what kind of movies he likes. He wants to start talking about Star Trek really badly. But he's actually able to hold it in for 20 minutes. He tells his date he like "comedies". No love connections are made during the dates. Back at the mansion, Nate is flush with confidence and tells the girls that none of the guys were ever geeks. "We were all just a bunch of people who came into this house. 'Geek' is a label applied to you by other people. Everyone is complicated." Niels and Jennylee argue about whom to send to the elimination. Niels is thinking strategically and wants to send Nate and Cecille. Jennylee tearfully begs him not to send Nate, but Niels is unmoved. Jennylee gets really angry and won't even talk to Niels. She's got it bad for Nate. It's time for Niels and Jennylee to announce their choices for elimination. Jennylee goes first and says she's choosing Matt and Andrea because they've been having a "rough time". Andrea asks her how they've been having a rough time and Jennylee says it's because Andrea doesn't get along with the other girls. Andrea responds, "It's OK. Hopefully, I'll come back and then I'll get a turn." Niels starts to cry as he announces his choice. After making it clear that Jennylee disagrees with him on this choice, he says the guy he's choosing is probably the one he's closest to in the house. The rest is almost incomprehensible as he's blubbering so much. He chooses Cecille and Nate, who smiles and tells him it's OK. Niels continues to cry, which is sad until he has to blow his nose really loudly in front of everyone. Jennylee and Andrea continue their catfight upstairs. At one point, they even start to argue about who's cooler. It's high school all over again. Look, if there's going to be this kind of hostility between the girls on this show from now on, there needs to be mud or Jell-O involved. Down in the elimination room, the tables are turned in a surprise upset when Andrea misses both of her questions, and Cecille actually gets both of hers right. Nate only needs to get one question correct to win it for his team, and he does. Matt and Andrea are eliminated, much to the relief of the bimbos upstairs. Next week - The gang goes to the beach. No one trusts Cecille. |
